Coupons 101
Coupon Confession: My name is Kim and I used to throw away coupons.
In the past, I was never one to use coupons. Usually I wouldn’t pay attention to them at all before they went straight into the trash. I was a bit of a coupon snob! Every once in a while I would flip through the coupons in the Sunday paper and even set aside a couple that I found interesting. But then I’d eventually add them to the pile of mail and other random things laying on the kitchen counter and forget about them. They’d eventually get thrown away with all the others and I really didn’t think twice about it.
An even bigger confession is that in the days when I was single and living alone I didn’t really even pay attention to the prices of the things I bought in the grocery store. I just picked out what looked good to me and paid for it, no questions asked. Now, truth be told, most of my meals in those days came from a drive-thru and not from my kitchen so I wasn’t buying tons of groceries. But still!! How much money must I have thrown away?
Oh, how times have changed!
If you’re like me, you are shocked and appalled at the price of groceries these days. Now that I have a family and two other mouths to feed besides my own I have to pay a lot more attention to what I buy, how much it costs and how far it will stretch. And so my journey into the world of coupons began…
I am by no means a pro at the whole coupon thing. In fact, I am quite new to it. And who knew it wasn’t as simple as just cutting them out and taking them to the store?? Nope. It’s far more complex than that if you want to get the most out of them. So I am learning as I go. Sourcing coupons and matching them up with sales takes A LOT of time and effort. That is one of the main reasons I included this topic on my blog. I will let you know about any great deals I find and I hope you will share your great finds too! That way we can all save time and money! Please feel free to share any tips or sources you have for “couponing.” I would love to hear them!!
In the following links I will share with you what I have figured out so far:
